The interruption and occasional weakness of telecommunications and internet networks in Deir ez-Zor has forced residents to resort to using networks operated by operators in areas controlled by the SDF, according to a correspondent for Deir Ezzor24 Network.
Our reporter said that some residents in residential neighborhoods near the Euphrates River have resorted to using Arcel SIM cards, whose towers are located in areas controlled by the SDF. Others have resorted to using satellite internet companies near Syriatel.
Currently, Deir Ezzor experiencing a complete outage of telecommunications and internet services on the networks (Syriatel and MTN), in addition to the interruption of internet service provided by the post office. This has forced residents to use the Arcel network in areas such as Al-Jubailah, Cinema Fouad, and the Supply Roundabout, as well as neighborhoods near the river.
The interruption of internet and communications services in Deir Ezzor is due to a cut in the optical cable coming from the city of Palmyra in the eastern Homs countryside.
Traders and money exchange shop owners confirmed to DeirEzzor24 that this outage has completely halted their work, both in money transfers and currency exchange. A large segment of Deir Ezzor residents, along with traders and craftsmen, are demanding radical solutions to the problem of weak internet and its frequent outages, such as the opening of satellite internet companies that would provide quality service to citizens.
