Epidemiological survey of horses in Deir Ezzor in preparation for completing the procedures for lifting the ban

A delegation from the Horses Directorate and the Health and Animal Production Directorate of the Ministry of Agriculture completed a field tour of Deir Ezzor Governorate, with the aim of conducting an epidemiological survey of horses and strengthening prevention and early detection measures for diseases.

The tour included a number of horse stables, where the delegation was briefed on the health status of the herd and held meetings with breeders to listen to their needs and comments.

Clinical examinations were also conducted on the horses, and health and epidemiological data were recorded, in conjunction with taking 244 blood samples to be sent to the relevant laboratories and the necessary tests to be conducted.

Initial examinations showed that the horses’ general health condition was good, and the health and epidemiological assessment will be completed after the laboratory test results are released.

The tour comes within the framework of efforts aimed at supporting the purebred Arabian horse sector and enhancing cooperation with the World Organization for Animal Health, in preparation for completing procedures related to lifting the ban on the horse sector.
