Drinkable water is back again in the besieged areas of Deir Ezzor city after civilians were deprived of it for several days. The new water station in the besieged areas was out of commission due to the unavailability of fuel and damages in its generator.

Today, Water Institute in Deir Ezzor managed to operate the new water station after it fixed its generator, which means that water supplies will reach civilian homes through the new water station rather than that of al-Bughayliya. It is situated in a safer area far from the front lines against Daesh in the province, which makes operating it easier.

The new station is also well supervised and it pumps water from a nearer distance compared to the other ones in Deir Ezzor, which will have a positive effect on the flow of water through the city’s water network.

With the arrival of summer, civilians will be in crucial need of water in huge quantity; and they are discontent with the decision of the water institute in Deir Ezzor who has recently announced it will only pump water 5 days a week depending on the amount of fuel that will be available. Civilians consider this as being below the basic needs.
