Abdullah Tamer, a local Daesh commander in rural Deir Ezzor, was killed yesterday in a coalition airstrike that targeted a group of Daesh fighters in Ash-Sha’fah village, eastern Deir Ezzor.

Abudllah Tamer was the one who negotiated with Russian forces and Assad regime when the latter gained full control over Deir Ezzor city and besieged Daesh, and around 200 civilians, in HawijahKati north of the city. Daesh demanded during the negotiations a safe passage to move to their held territory in Al Bukamal nearby Syria-Iraq border. However, there were conflicting reports about whether or not Daesh reached an agreement with the other side.

The death of Al Thamer has revealed some details about the negotiation deal. The Russians and the organization had agreed to transport Daesh families to Daesh-held areas in the eastern countryside in exchange of releasing some Russian prisoners who were captured in a previous attack on Al Shulah village, south of Deir Ezzor.

Sources indicated to D24 that the negotiations included giving the Russians a full map of all Daesh minefields and arms depots in Deir Ezzor city, as well as not fighting against regime frontlines.

Abdullah Thamer was among the first to pledge allegiance to Daesh in Deir Ezzor and was involved in the killing and the arrest of many local civilians.
