The Al-Shaddadi District Administration reopened the municipal slaughterhouse after a closure that lasted approximately fourteen years. The reopening was attended by the district director, Khaled Al-Zubaidi, and a number of officials and those involved in service and veterinary affairs.
The opening of the slaughterhouse comes within the framework of efforts aimed at regulating livestock slaughter operations and reducing random slaughter, allowing meat to be subjected to veterinary examination and ensuring its safety before being put on the market, which would enhance food safety measures and protect the health of consumers.
The slaughterhouse is expected to provide essential services to butchers and livestock breeders in the city of Al-Shaddadi and its countryside, and contribute to regulating the slaughter sector within more appropriate health standards, in addition to supporting the livestock sector and improving the level of public services provided to the residents.
The restart of the slaughterhouse is seen as an important service step after years of cessation, with the continued need to develop its facilities and equipment to ensure continuity of work in accordance with the required health and veterinary conditions.
