DeirEzzor24 network learned that, in the past few days, a meeting was held between Brigadier General “Ahmed Khalil”, head of the Military Security Branch in Deir Ezzor, and leaders from the Deir Ezzor Civil Council of the Autonomous Administration.
According to the source, the meeting took place at the home of the former leader of the Al-Baqir Brigade militia, Fadi “Al-Afis”, in the town of Al-Husseiniya, northwest of Deir Ezzor.
The source confirmed that the reason for the meeting was to discuss some issues related to smuggling operations between the Assad regime-controlled areas and the SDF-controlled areas of Deir Ezzor, and to conclude an agreement to facilitate those operations.
The last period witnessed several meetings between figures from the Assad regime and others from the SDF in order to coordinate on several political and economic issues.
