The town of Maadan, located in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor, is suffering from the widespread presence of garbage dumps between residential neighborhoods, in road medians, and in the town’s markets. This situation has worsened due to the recent and significant increase in the population.
Residents have taken it upon themselves to remove some of the garbage dumps located within residential areas at their own expense, due to the disturbing and excessive accumulation of waste.
Late at night, some street vendors and shop owners resort to burning the accumulated waste in the medians of markets in an attempt to get rid of it.
Shop owners have appealed to the relevant authorities to support the municipality of Maadan in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor with the necessary equipment and machinery to meet the needs of residents and nearby villages.
They also called for the placement of garbage containers on main streets and in residential neighborhoods to limit the spread of random waste dumps and maintain public cleanliness.
