Sugar smuggling activity continue towards SDF areas

The smuggling of sugar from the Assad-controlled areas of Deir Ezzor to the SDF-controlled areas has witnessed a recent activity, against the background of the price of a kilo of sugar reaching 8000 SYP and the bag at 240 SYP, while it is sold on the black market in Assad’s areas for 2,800 SYP.
Smuggling operations are carried out through river crossings under the supervision of influential people and merchants. The decision to raise the price of sugar by the Self-Rule Administration recently met with discontent among the people, which resulted in smuggling activity to SDF areas, in light of the deteriorating living conditions and the high prices of all commodities.
