The “Siraj” campaign has taken its first practical steps on the ground by launching the installation phase of street lighting systems in the neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor, aiming to restore some life and safety to the city’s long-darkened streets.
According to the campaign team speaking to DeirEzzor24 Network, the project began in the Al-Omal neighborhood in coordination with the Deir Ezzor Electricity Company. This follows three weeks since the campaign was launched with the goal of lighting up the city, supported by donations from local residents and expatriates.
Ali Ahmad Al-Hassou, the founder of the “Siraj” campaign, told the network that the installation phase followed a period of preparation, which included mapping and field surveys. These efforts targeted the most densely populated areas to prioritize implementation.
He confirmed that the campaign continues to collect donations from various individuals and organizations, aiming to light up as many neighborhoods as possible in Deir Ezzor
Meanwhile, “Hammoud,” a resident of Al-Omal neighborhood, expressed his gratitude for the initiative, noting that nighttime lighting would greatly reduce thefts and violations that occur under the cover of darkness. He added that it would give residents a sense of security and encourage many to return to their abandoned homes.
Volunteer “Marwa,” a member of the campaign team, spoke about her involvement in the project, emphasizing that her participation stems from a genuine desire to help rebuild her city. Marwa also issued an open call to the youth of Deir Ezzor to get involved in all local initiatives aimed at improving services and living conditions.
The “Siraj” campaign continues its mission steadily, backed by growing support from locals both inside and outside the city, in hopes that light will reach every street and alley — and that the initiative will become a true spark for restoring hope and illumination to Deir Ezzor.
