A preparatory meeting was held during the past two days between Iranian and local figures in Deir Ezzor, with the aim of forming a new militia, according to private sources that told DeirEzzor24.
According to the sources, the meeting included commanders from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia, Nawaf al-Bashir, and militia commanders in Hatlah, adding that the meeting discussed the formation of a new militia in the areas under the control of Assad’s forces in Deir Ezzor “east of the Euphrates,” under the name “The Hashemite Tribes Regiment.”
The new militia that the Iranian militias are seeking to form has a tribal character, after the recent clash between the SDF and the tribes of Deir Ezzor.
