The Storage and Marketing Department at the Grains Corporation in Raqqa began sterilization work on piles of durum and soft wheat stored in open-air stores, following the completion of the grain delivery season in the governorate.
The process involves placing sterilization chains that release phosphine gas, in an amount of approximately two kilograms of sterilizing agent per stack, equivalent to approximately eight conditions or chains, into four openings distributed on either side of the stack.
After applying the sterilizing material, the stacks are tightly covered with sterilization caps, ensuring that the material reaches all parts of the stack, eliminating any potential insect infestations, and preserving the quality of the stored grain.
