The Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport, Omar Al-Hosary, announced the launch of the first direct and regular flights between the German city of Cologne and Deir Ezzor, and the German company “LEAV Aviation” will begin operating the flights starting from the first of next September, with one flight per week.
Al-Hosary explained that the launch of the line comes within the Authority’s plan to connect Deir Ezzor to the world, enhance its presence on the international air transport map, and open more destinations for the people of the Eastern Province.
For the first time in the history of the airport’s commercial operation, Deir Ezzor International Airport will receive a regular flight by a European air carrier, in a move that reflects the development of air traffic in Syria and the growing air connection with Europe.
With the launch of this line, LEAV Aviation expanded its operations in Syria to include direct flights from Germany to Damascus, Aleppo and Deir Ezzor, enhancing travel and communication between the two countries.
Al-Hosary stressed that the Authority is continuing to work on linking Deir Ezzor and the Eastern Province to more international destinations, and opening new airlines, in a way that restores its position on the air transport map
