The Directorate of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Al-Hasakah Governorate revealed that the fires that the governorate witnessed during the current agricultural season destroyed about 65 thousand dunums of agricultural land, including 61 thousand dunums planted with wheat and 4 thousand dunums with barley, according to the final damage statistics.
The Director of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform in Hasakah, Engineer Hayel Al-Kalash, explained that most of the fires were concentrated in the northern and northwestern areas of the governorate, especially in the districts of Abu Rasin and Al-Derbasiyah and the city of Amoda.
Al-Kalash pointed out that the directorate has completed the damage assessment process in coordination with the relevant authorities, documenting all affected areas, stressing the continuation of coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and international organizations to include affected farmers among the priorities of support and compensation programs, which contributes to mitigating the effects of the losses they have suffered.
