Customs officers at the Tanf border crossing thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large shipment of weapons, missiles and drones, which were tightly hidden inside an oil tanker heading to the city of Baniyas, as part of efforts to combat smuggling and enhance the security of border crossings.
The seizure came during the implementation of the usual inspection and audit procedures on vehicles and shipments passing through the crossing, after one of the tanks raised suspicions, and was subjected to a thorough inspection that revealed the presence of weapons, missiles and drones hidden inside it in a professional manner, in an attempt to camouflage and bypass customs control procedures.
The General Authority of Crossings and Customs confirmed that, after completing the necessary procedures and organizing the necessary seizure, the seized shipment was handed over to the competent authorities to complete investigations, pursue those involved, and take legal measures against them.
