The Facilities and Maintenance Directorate at the General Authority for Crossings and Customs is proceeding with the work of constructing and equipping the permanent infrastructure at the Al-Tanf border crossing, as part of a plan aimed at establishing a modern crossing in accordance with the highest technical specifications, while continuing to provide services through temporary facilities to ensure the smooth flow of transit traffic and that the movement of passengers and trucks is not affected.
Ongoing work includes removing the rubble, constructing the foundations of employees’ housing and service facilities, digging an artesian well, and preparing two balances for the export and import yards, in addition to starting to prepare four halls designated to receive travelers, while the workshops continue to carry out work around the clock to accelerate the pace of completion according to the specified timetable.
The Al-Tanf crossing is considered one of the most prominent strategic border crossings in Syria, due to its location on the international road linking Iraq and the Gulf states, and the pivotal role it plays in transit, land transport and trade exchange.
The ongoing rehabilitation projects are expected to contribute to developing the crossing’s infrastructure, raising the efficiency of services provided, and increasing operational capacity, thus enhancing the flow of commercial and transit traffic through the crossing.
