Fires broke out in several agricultural areas in the countryside of Hasakah Governorate, causing widespread losses to agricultural crops and fruit trees, coinciding with rising temperatures and active winds.
In the village of Mishraq, south of the city of Derbasiyah, a fire broke out in agricultural land, burning about 40 dunums planted with wheat, in addition to 25 dunums of crop residues after harvest, which contributed to the rapid expansion of the fire.
According to local sources, residents rushed to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading to neighboring agricultural lands despite the difficult weather conditions, while the causes of its outbreak are not yet known.
In a related context, the villages of Bayazah and The’ab in the Al-Qahtaniyah area in the Qamishli countryside witnessed a large fire that consumed dozens of dunums of agricultural land, causing huge material losses to summer crops and fruit trees.
Local sources explained that the fire broke out during the afternoon hours amid hot weather and active winds, which led to the fire quickly spreading over large areas of cultivated fields, and made it difficult to control efforts in its early stages.
Crop fires recur annually in several areas of the governorate, causing increasing losses to farmers and threatening their livelihoods during the harvest season.
