The Directorate of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection in Raqqa stressed the need to adhere to the ministerial instructions issued by the Ministry of Economy and Industry, which stipulate that the sale of types of infant formula intended for infants is limited to pharmacies only, in coordination with the Ministry of Health.
This came during a meeting that included the Pharmacists Syndicate, the Drug Control Department, and the Health Directorate, in addition to business owners, where it was confirmed that the decision includes infant formula (1) intended for children from birth to six months of age, and infant formula (2) intended for children from six months to twelve months of age.
Participants in the meeting stressed that any violation of this resolution will expose its perpetrators to legal accountability, stressing that the measure aims to protect children’s health and safety, ensure that they obtain appropriate products in accordance with approved standards, in addition to regulating the circulation of these materials in local markets and their entry through approved regular channels.
