The General Company for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Deir Ezzor continues to implement the project to rehabilitate the Sbikhan – Khneifiss water station in the eastern countryside of the governorate, in cooperation with UNICEF and with the support of the local community, in a step aimed at enhancing the stability of drinking water supplies and improving the level of services provided to the population.
Construction work on the project began with a community initiative, while UNICEF is responsible for completing civil works and securing the necessary mechanical and electrical equipment, which contributes to raising the efficiency of the station and increasing its operational readiness.
As part of the project, excavation work has begun to extend a new water network to the city of Sbikhan, with diameters ranging from 110 to 200 mm, and a total length of 7,555 meters. Implementation work is expected to continue for six months.
The supervisory team at the General Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater also conducted a joint field tour with representatives of UNICEF to follow up on the progress of work in the field and ensure that the project is implemented in accordance with the approved technical standards, ensuring the achievement of the desired goals and improving the status of water services in the area.
