The southwestern countryside of Al-Hasakah Governorate witnessed a state of tension, after a number of farmers blocked the Tal Abyad Road in front of oil transport tanks, while announcing an open sit-in to protest the lack of agricultural diesel allocations.
The protests were concentrated in the Umm Madfa and Zain Al-Mubaraj areas, where farmers expressed their dissatisfaction with the fuel distribution mechanism, stressing that the quantities delivered so far are not sufficient to meet their basic needs as the harvest season approaches.
The protesters pointed out that the concerned authorities distributed only about two million liters out of 14 million liters allocated for approximately 340 agricultural licenses, considering this reduction a severe threat to the agricultural season, and demanded urgent intervention to secure sufficient allocations of diesel, in addition to reducing its price.
