The General Corporation for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Deir Ezzor in cooperation with Oxfam, continues to implement an integrated project to rehabilitate and improve sewage networks in the city of Al-Quria and the town of Mehkan, as part of the “Deir Ezzor Spring” campaign aimed at raising the level of basic services in the area.
The project includes a package of vital works aimed at addressing existing problems in the network, as the works include detecting and isolating inspection rooms, clearing sewage lines, in addition to implementing point repairs to the damaged parts of the network.
Polyethylene pipes with a diameter of 40 cm are also being installed, rain gusts are being implemented to drain rainwater, in addition to maintenance work for existing lifting stations.
As part of enhancing the system’s efficiency, the project also includes the installation of a new sewage pumping station with a capacity of 100 cubic meters per hour and a lifting capacity of up to 7 meters, which will contribute to improving the flow of sewage and preventing bottlenecks in the network.
The project aims to serve approximately 12,000 people in Al-Quria and Mehkan, which will positively impact service and health conditions, contribute to improving residents’ living conditions, and reduce environmental risks associated with weak sewage networks.
