The old water station in the city of Albukamal stopped working completely two days ago, following a major fire that broke out in the station’s cables “circuit- breaker boxes”, which led to the main engine malfunctioning and being out of service.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident was not the result of a natural technical malfunction, but rather the result of electrical violations and thefts on the line supplying the station. Data indicate that the volume of illegal extraction amounted to approximately 400 amps, causing significant pressure that directly burned the cables.
As a result, the station was completely shut down until the encroachments were removed and the technical damage was remedied, at a time when residents are facing increasing difficulties in obtaining water.
The residents hold the individuals involved in these violations responsible, stressing that the continuation of these practices poses a direct threat to the city’s main water source and requires urgent intervention to reduce them and protect the infrastructure.
