The General Corporation for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Deir Ezzor, with support from Concern, completed the rehabilitation work of the Sosah water station in the eastern countryside of Albukamal, which contributed to restoring water pumping to more than 20,000 people after an interruption that lasted for more than seven years.

This project comes within the framework of improving the service situation and securing safe water sources for residents, as rehabilitation work has contributed to ending the residents’ suffering from the scarcity of drinking water, and restoring stability to the town and its surrounding areas.

The works included implementing a comprehensive rehabilitation of the station’s infrastructure, which included structural, mechanical and electrical restorations, most notably replacing the two raw pumping sets with a capacity of 160 cubic meters per hour and lifting 20 meters, with the installation of a new control panel, in addition to completely maintaining the clear water pumps.

The works also included maintaining the tension line connecting the raw and clear water sections, installing new electrical cables, treating the sedimentation basin with anti-leakage and insulating materials, maintaining sand filters, repairing and restarting the diesel generator, and restoring the station rooms.

These works will ensure the station’s continued operation with high efficiency and improve the quality of water provided to residents in the area.
