The city of Deir Ezzor is witnessing an increase in service and environmental problems, amid popular demands for urgent action from the concerned authorities to address them, because of their direct impact on the health and safety of residents.

In  Al-Hamidiyah neighborhood, piles of garbage are piling up behind Al-Nour Hospital, while stagnant water is gathering in the streets and alleys, which leads to the emission of foul odors and increases the possibility of the spread of diseases, in addition to threatening the environment and public health. Residents confirm that this problem is exacerbated by the lack of regular cleaning and maintenance work.

In a related context, residents’ fears are escalating in the Ghassan Abboud roundabout area about the spread of stray dogs, which have become a daily danger to residents, especially after cases of attacks on passersby were recorded and they approached homes, which created a state of anxiety, especially during the evening hours.

A resident of the area explained that dogs are ferocious and aggressive, attacking passers-by without justification, adding that going out at night has become fraught with danger.

The residents called on the Deir Ezzor Municipality to take immediate measures to remove piles of garbage, address the causes of water accumulation, and develop effective solutions to reduce the phenomenon of stray dogs, in a way that ensures the protection of the population and the preservation of public health.
