The streets of Deir Ezzor are witnessing large concentrations of rainwater, as a result of widespread excavations and the deterioration of roads, especially on the main streets in the city center.
These gatherings caused obstruction to pedestrian and vehicle traffic, as the suffering increased with the continued rainfall, which significantly exacerbated the problem.
A number of drivers were forced to take side roads, in violation of traffic regulations, to avoid excavations that were flooded with rainwater and became invisible, which increases the possibility of accidents and malfunctions.
The residents appealed to the concerned authorities to intervene urgently and develop an emergency plan to treat the rainwater drainage, stressing that the continuation of the current situation is turning the city’s streets into mud swamps that hinder daily life.
The city’s roads also suffer from widespread potholes and the deterioration of the asphalt layer, as a result of the absence of maintenance and paving work for years, which increases the difficulty of movement and doubles the suffering of residents.
