During the past few days, the Internal Security Forces, in coordination with the General Intelligence Service, carried out a concentrated security operation targeting a number of members of ISIS cells in the areas of Albukamal and its countryside, all the way to some points in Al-Busayra countryside, specifically in the Al-Zer and Al-Tekaihi areas.
This operation came after careful intelligence follow-up and monitoring of the movements of members suspected of being linked to activities that threaten the security and stability of the area.
Field measures resulted in the arrest of seven people in Albukamal area, in addition to the arrest of five others in Al-Basira area, including prominent leadership figures who are believed to have been supervising the planning of operations aimed at destabilizing security in the region.
The concerned authorities confirmed that investigations are still ongoing with all detainees held by the competent authorities, in accordance with legal procedures, in preparation for taking the necessary judicial measures against those proven responsible.
The Internal Security Forces also stressed that they will continue, in cooperation with intelligence agencies, to follow up on any activity that may threaten the security of citizens and the stability of the region, while emphasizing commitment to implementing the law and maintaining civil peace.
