SDF released Ahmed Al-Khubil, known as “Abu Khawla”, the former commander of the Deir Ezzor Military Council, after an arrest that lasted about two and a half years in its prisons in the city of Hasakah.
The release decision included a number of leaders of Deir-Ezzor Military Council, namely Muhammad Jabr al-Rahim (Abu Jabr al-Shuaiti), Ahmed al-Kamil (Abu Hamda al-Shuaiti), Khalil al-Wahsh and Salama al-Jaber (Abu Fahd Khesham).
SDF had arrested them after calling them to a meeting in Hasakah, before they were arrested there, which then sparked a state of tension in the region, and led to the outbreak of a tribal uprising in Deir Ezzor, which witnessed clashes and escalating security incidents during that period.
