A technical workshop for preparing local development plans was held in Deir Ezzor Governorate, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The workshop was attended by the Governor of Deir Ezzor, executive office members, heads of government departments, and a team tasked with preparing the local development plans for the governorate.
The workshop aims to build and enhance the capacities of government employees in areas such as data collection and analysis, as well as the development of indicators necessary for preparing development plans. This will contribute to crafting a comprehensive development vision for Deir Ezzor Governorate, based on its relative advantages in various economic and social sectors, leading to the formulation of a medium-term development plan.
The workshop includes specialized training sessions focusing on methods for dealing with data and indicators, identifying problems, and assessing needs. This will support the preparation of future development plans based on scientific foundations and sound methodologies, while also enhancing planning efficiency at the local level.
Participants emphasized the importance of this workshop in supporting planning teams and improving the capacity of government personnel, especially after a long hiatus from such training. They stressed that proper planning forms the foundation for any successful developmental work.
The workshop will last for three days, concluding with the preparation of project lists aimed at promoting local development and achieving sustainability in Deir Ezzor Governorate.
