The surgical operations department at Al-Mayadin National Hospital successfully performed a complex procedure involving the removal of a damaged kidney from a five-year-old child. The condition was caused by a severe and neglected narrowing at the ureteropelvic junction.
The surgery was carried out by a fully integrated medical team consisting of urological surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff. It marks the first operation of its kind conducted at the hospital since 2014.
The hospital administration confirmed that the surgery was successful and that the child is currently under close medical observation. They noted that this achievement reflects ongoing efforts to provide healthcare to the region’s residents despite limited resources and various challenges.
