Activists and teachers in the city of Al-Bukamal, eastern Deir Ezzor, have launched a campaign aimed at shedding light on the condition of damaged schools, according to a correspondent from DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our correspondent reported that the campaign also targets schools that have been completely destroyed in Al-Bukamal and its surrounding areas.
He added that the campaign seeks to highlight the urgent need for these schools to be either renovated or completely rebuilt, in order to welcome students once again.
Hani Al-Aani, one of the organizers of the campaign, confirmed that the number of schools currently in need of rehabilitation and renovation stands at 14, covering primary, preparatory, and secondary levels.
He added that these schools require urgent maintenance work to be ready to receive students by the beginning of the upcoming academic year.
It is worth noting that public facilities in Al-Bukamal, including schools, have suffered destruction and vandalism over the past years due to systematic shelling carried out by Assad’s forces and Russian airstrikes, as well as sabotage by Daesh and Iran-backed militias.
