According to a DeirEzzor24 Network reporter, travelers and drivers are experiencing a lack of telecommunications and interruptions for long distances on the Deir Ezzor-Damascus highway due to recent theft of telecommunications towers.
Our reporter said that the area extending from Al-Sukhnah to the entrance to Deir Ezzor city is going through a complete interruption of telecommunications and internet networks due to the lack of communication towers.
Abu Abdullah, a truck driver, said, “The telecommunications outage in this area causes a state of fear among drivers, especially due to vehicle breakdowns and their inability to communicate with nearby cities for maintenance.”
He added, “All drivers (buses, private cars, and service vehicles) are trying to speed up as much as possible to exit this area and reach the Sukhna checkpoint when heading to Damascus, and to speed up to Deir Ezzor when coming from Damascus to safely bypass that area.” Drivers are calling on the authorities in Deir Ezzor province and Palmyra to conduct regular patrols, day and night, in this area until the networks there are repaired and roadblocks are set up to secure it.
