The city of Deir Ezzor has witnessed a significant spread of child labor recently, according to a reporter of DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our reporter said that a segment of children sell on stalls, sidewalks, markets, and as street vendors in public parks in Deir Ezzor.
One of the children told Deir Ezzor 24 Network: “I was forced to work selling biscuits by wandering around the markets to help my brothers and mother. My father is deceased and they have no one to support them but me.”
He added, “I am 15 years old and the eldest of my brothers. I am their primary breadwinner and responsible for their siblings’ education.”
The families of children who work in Deir Ezzor suffer from a significant deterioration in their living conditions on the one hand and the loss of their primary breadwinner on the other hand.
Dozens of these families live in destroyed homes located in the neighborhoods of Al-Hamidiyah, Al-Ammal, and Al-Rashidiyah in Deir Ezzor city.
It is worth noting that these children left their education and schools to secure a living for their families in light of the deteriorating living conditions.
