Assad’s parliament agreed to grant permission to prosecute Madlul Al-Aziz, the representative of Deir Ezzor Governorate, legally on charges of corruption and squandering public money.
A correspondent for Deir Ezzor 24 network said that the name of the representative “Madlul Al-Aziz” had been mentioned in a lawsuit last April related to a violation estimated at 16 billion Syrian pounds for cases of smuggling various goods, including fuel, cigarettes, weapons, sheep, and food supplies.
Al-Aziz was one of the leaders of the “Al-Nusra Front” between 2012 and 2015, during which he committed many crimes. After ISIS entered Deir Ezzor, “Madlul Al-Aziz” fled to Damascus and made peace with the Air Force Intelligence. He then established a militia affiliated with the Assad regime. He set up several checkpoints in Deir Ezzor and its countryside under the name of “Abu Dhabah” checkpoints, which were famous for blackmailing passersby and imposing taxes on them.
“Madlul Al-Aziz” ran for membership in the regime’s parliament and was able to reach the council dome with the support of Iran in 2020, as he is considered one of its arms within it.
The so-called “Madlul Al-Aziz” is a member of the Assad regime’s parliament for Deir Ezzor Governorate in category “B”, and he previously held the position of president of the Al-Futuwa Club.
