DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
Accompaniment is an important financial resource for the Iranian militias in Deir Ezzor, and is based on Iranian militia members accompanying visitors coming from Iraq as soon as they enter Syrian territory through the Al-Qaim crossing in the Albukamal countryside.
The accompanying process continues until the so-called visitors or “pilgrims” arrive at the place of visit, which is the shrine of Sayyida Zeinab, south of the capital, Damascus, in exchange for money to be agreed upon.
Deportations increased, according to what was monitored by the DeirEzzor24 network, by Iranian militias following a stone attack on a number of visitors during July of last year after they chanted sectarian slogans as they entered Syrian territory near the border village of Al-Hari in the Al-Bukamal countryside.
Convoys of Shiite visitors began entering Syria through the Al-Qaim border crossing in the Al-Bukamal countryside after Iranian militias took control of Deir Ezzor, in late 2017.
