An Iranian commander, a “pilgrim,” was killed along with two Syrians, four days ago, in the town of Al-Sayyal, east of Deir Ezzor, as a result of their car being targeted with machine guns, by unknown persons believed to be from Daesh, private sources told the DeirEzzor24 network.
The sources said that the attack occurred in broad daylight, around 10 a.m. on Monday, coinciding with the spread of heavy fog, and while a car carrying them was passing no more than 1 km away from the nearest point of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard militia in the town of Al-Sayyal in the Al-Bukamal area, east of Deir Ezzor province.
She added that the Iranian pilgrim was nicknamed “Abu al-Abbas,” which is a nom de guerre, and he was accompanied by two Syrians, the first holding the position of operations officer and the second a trainer specializing in sniper weapons.
Hajj Askar set up two condolence tents for the dead in the city of Al-Bukamal, supervised their attendance personally, and documented his presence by filming videos for the Iranian media in which he received mourners, both military and civilian, for three days.
