Khalaf Al-Assaad comes from the town of Marat in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. He was born in 1965. He served as a branch secretary for one of the front parties licensed by the Baath Party for several years, and a member of the Deir Ezzor Governorate Council for the independent sector (B) in the 2007 and 2012 sessions, in addition to his candidacy for membership in the People’s Assembly. in the 2012 session.
Al-Assaad is one of the most prominent oil traders in the region, and his trade reached its peak in 2013 and mid-2014, until Daesh took control of Deir Ezzor from the year 2015 to 2017.
With the withdrawal of the organization from Deir Ezzor, “Al-Asaad” remained in his town and rushed to put himself at the service of the new ruler of an area, the Syrian Democratic Forces, to occupy the position of Vice President of the Legislative Council in SDF and then its president in 2019.
“Al-Asaad” continued in the ranks of the SDF until 2021, to return to the bosom of the Assad regime within the settlement and reconciliation processes in Deir Ezzor in mid-November 2021, to begin his new journey by getting close to figures in the Assad regime and the Iranian militias, until he became close to the so-called “Iranian pilgrims.” And he was one of the first people invited to the opening ceremony of Imam Jaafar Al-Sadiq’s Husseiniya, which was opened a few days ago in the town of Hatla, northeast of Deir Ezzor.
