DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
Yesterday, the Baath Party organized a march in support of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in which several groups of employees, lawyers, pharmacists, peasants, workers and others from the city of Deir Ezzor participated.
One of the participants in the demonstration, M.A, stated that they were informed of the necessity to go to the Farmers’ Union yesterday morning, and they were transported by buses to the location of the march, under threat of dismissal from work or imprisonment, in case they refrain from attending.
M.A confirmed that he does not have any information about what is happening in Ukraine, saying: “Why would I support Russia, which has reduced my city to rubble, as I am displaced from Al-Rashdiya neighborhood destroyed by the Russian bombing machine, and I am currently living in Al-Joura neighborhood.”
The regime’s methods and tools did not differ in its “Baathist” approach to such events. Since 2011, it has been moving its shabiha to direct plays in rebellious areas after their destruction. Over the past years, it has been repeating such scenarios on any appropriate occasion, such as provoking the displaced in 2018, in a delusional manner (which has been ongoing for years). The Assad regime continues to force employees and workers to participate in marches and threaten those who refrain from participation with dismissal or imprisonment.
