The security committee allowed the owners of the real estate office in Deir Ezzor to rent “mixed” houses for male and female students, in return for paying a sum of money to obtain the license. This precedent is new and strange to the Deir community, as the people fear that this phenomenon will cause the spread of brothels, under the cover of the presence of male and female students in one common housing under the pretext of studying. It is worth mentioning that an interesting incident took place recently in the same context as the expulsion of female students from the coast who converted a rented house into a brothel, while such phenomena are considered a distortion of social norms in the areas east of the Euphrates, whose people are described as a society committed to social norms and traditions.
