Unknown shooters attacked a vehicle on the Jazret el-Buhameed -Abu Khashab road, northwestern Deir Ezzor, injuring Muhammad al-Ass’ad al-Badr, sheikh of the al-Bu-Saleh tribe and killing his brother Hameed al-Badr.The brothers are dignitaries of the al-Baqara tribe in Deir Ezzor.
The shooters on a motorcycle opened fire from machine guns, as such attacks are frequent in the area.
Social media reported news that targeting the dignitaries was due to their rejection of demonstrations on Friday against the Russians’ presence in the area.
On Friday, demonstrations took place in the town of al-Hussan in Deir Ezzor. The demonstrators rejected the Russians’ presence in the area, demanded Assad’s overthrow, and expelling the Russians and Iranians from Syria.
