The Assad regime called young men of Deir Ezzor to reconcile in reconciliation centers in return for allowing them to safely cross areas west of the Euphrates, and allowing them to return if they accept to work for the Assad regime’s intelligence services, and coordinate with them, in a way of exploiting people to fulfil the regime’s goals.
The Assad regime aims at spreading horror and chaos among civilians in the area by promoting such campaigns. The residents of the area fear such calls by the Assad regime that usually coincide with harassing young men and launching raids to arrest young men. The Assad regime blackmails the people to pay money in return for releasing their sons.
People of Deir Ezzor reject the Assad regime’s reconciliation calls, as a lot of people immigrated to escape Assad regime’s pressure, especially as ten years after, the regime is still trying to re-legitimate itself.
