Deir Ezzor governor issued a decision requiring some shop owners in al-Wadi Street in al-Joura neighborhood to move their shops to Cinema Fu’ad Street. Assad regime is trying to force merchants to open their shops between the rubble, where the entire street is destroyed and the surrounding areas are almost uninhabited. And despite all that, it imposes high rents of about 500,000 on shop owners there.
The decision was met with resentment and ridicule by the shop owners, who insisted on their position, stressing that if they to be forced to move their shops, they will close their shops and stop working.
According to residents, the governor of Deir Ezzor is trying to revive the area and encourage its residents to return to their almost destroyed homes, whose contents were looted by Assad regime forces, while others believe that Iran stands behind the decision, in a try to know the houses belonging to oppositionists and immigrants for the purpose of seizing them.
