The Deir Ezzor 24 Network knew that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps militia (IRGC) recruited men in the city of al-Mayadeen due to low numbers of young men who joined the militia ranks on previous recruitment occassions.
The IRGC seeks recruitng as many fighters from Deir Ezzor as possible exploiting poverty, lack of job opportunities, and deteriorated security conditions.
Iranian militias compete with Russian forces to recruit young men of Deir Ezzor to fight on behalf of them.
