Russian cargo planes have sharply increased the number of airdrop supply missions in Deir Ezzor since Saturday by parachuting food and fuel supplies over the besieged areas in the province where Assad forces were waiting for the delivery of supplies and collected the shipments once they landed in their controlled areas.

Yesterday afternoon, Russian cargo planes dropped seven shipments loaded with food and fuel in Deir Ezzor province. The shipments landed near the mount nearby Deir Ezzor-Damascus highway and Harabish neighborhood of Deir Ezzor city. Assad forces rushed to the areas where the shipments landed and collected them.

On Sunday at 6.00 pm, Russian cargo planes parachuted five shipments containing food and fuel supplies, and they landed near the campus located on the highway of Damascus-Deir Ezzor. Assad forces assembled the shipments and transported them to the regime warehouses in Deir Ezzor.

Consumer units have distributed food baskets, which do not exceed three kg per a basket and cost 1200 Syrian lira, to civilians living in the besieged neighborhoods of al-Joura and al-Qusour.

All these coincide with Assad forces capturing Palmyra near Deir Ezzor after heavy clashes with ISIS that led both parties to suffer devastating fatalities. After the seizure of Palmyra, lifting the siege on the regime-held areas in Deir Ezzor becomes practicable in the coming days.
