Once again, Diseases sweep across vast areas in the countryside of Deir Ezzor amidst the overlooking and neglecting of all calls for help to save the patients, or, at least, reduce their sufferings.
The disease of leishmaniasis is now widespread in the countryside, mainly among children. It is caused by the insect called ‘fly of sand’, whose size is less in that of the average fly and it is active during the night when it flies silently and it can stick its target without him or her feeling anything.
The cause of the spread of the disease is due to the undrinkable water used by the locals in the region and also because of the total lack of health care due to the closure of all medical points in the province.
Humanitarian and health organizations should intervene immediately in order to secure the needed cure so as to contain the disease which is now out of control.
