A meeting of a number of personalities was held today at the Civil Council building in Al-Kasrah town in the western Deir Ezzor countryside, including Ghassan al-Yousef, head of the Civil Council, military leaders, civilian figures, families of those martyred and wounded in previous battles with Daesh, according to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent.
During the meeting, they talked about the recent negotiations between the Russians and the Syrian democratic forces (SDF), and the attendees were asked to convey the content of the agreement to civilians, and that Assad’s forces are only present at points of contact between them and the Turkish army, “and we will not allow them and their sectarian militias to enter Deir Ezzor countryside” An attendee told Deir Ezzor 24 network.
The meeting paid tribute to the families of the dead and wounded from the SDF, and thanked them for being the key component in the fight against Daesh.
A brigade commander in the SDF-linked Deir Ezzor military council told Deir Ezzor 24 network: “We really know that more than 75% of the people of Deir Ezzor are wanted by the Assad regime, and that the entry of Assad’s forces into the eastern Euphrates will cause a catastrophe, so we will not allow them to enter, and we are ready to face Assad’s forces and the Iranian militias in case they thought or wanted to advance to the eastern Euphrates.”
He added: “We have weapons and equipment that can cover a large geographical area. There would be no negotiations with Assad regarding Deir Ezzor. We have our own decision and we will not compromise on Deir Ezzor. Deir Ezzor will be outside the calculations promoted by Assad regime and Shabbiha of al-Jurf.”
The military commander continued:
“Deir Ezzor Military Council has restructured itself and drawn up military plans to confront Assad’s forces in case they approached the eastern Euphrates, and the number of the military council members is constantly increasing.”
The brigade commander concluded by saying: “Deir Ezzor Council in its military and civilian parts, and the elders and tribal figures are all rejecting Assad, and we are ready to confront him if he tried to approach our territory.”
It is noteworthy that the meeting coincided with movements of Assad’s forces and the Iranian militias towards the eastern Euphrates areas of Deir Ezzor, which were met with protests and popular movement from the people of Deir Ezzor in the east of the Euphrates to reject Assad regime and its supporters.
