A source told Deir Ezzor 24 Network that six fighters defected from the Iranian Regiment 47 militia and joined the National Defense (ND) militia in the city of al-Bukamal over the recent two days.
The source added that the reason behind the fighters’ defection is imprisoning miltia’s fighters by an official of the Iranian Regiment 47 militia for seven days. The militia released the fighters who left the regiment and joined the ND to protect themselves.
The Iranian backed Regiment 47 militia operates in al-Bukamal. Most of the commanders of the militia are foreign; however, its fighters are locals.
