Deir Ezzor 24 network learned from sources that Assad’s forces, led by Russian officers, began an extensive military campaign against Daesh in Deir Ezzor.
According to the sources, the campaign came as a result of Daesh’s repeated attacks on patrols and military headquarters of Assad’s forces in Deir Ezzor, in addition to the assassinations that have increased in recent times in Deir Ezzor, especially in the Badiyah area.
According to the same sources, the military campaign started in several areas controlled by Assad’s forces in Deir Ezzor such as Al-Shoula, al-Panorama, Al-Mayadeen and Sbikhan, and that it headed towards the international road linking Palmyra with Al-Bukamal near the badiyah, where the group’s attacks have increased, especially near al-Bushri and Palmyra road – Deir Ezzor.
It is worth mentioning that Assad regime, the Russian forces and the Iranian militias have declared many times that they have “liberated” Deir Ezzor from Daesh, but the group’s attacks and operations show how fragile Assad regime, the Russians and the Iranians are in protecting the areas under their control.
