An official of the International Coalition told Deir Ezzor 24 network about the recent efforts made by the international coalition and the U.S. administration to calm down the situation in Deir Ezzor. They listened to the suggestions and demands of the sheikhs and elders of the region, he said:
“The U.S. State Department and Coalition Forces conducted a series of meetings over three days with local Tribal leadership, Civil leadership, and SDF leadership to further pinpoint the issues plaguing the Deir Ezzor province and begin a collaborative effort aimed at resolving these issues.”
He added:
“The major concerns of the tribal leaders were security, the lack of economic aid being received by residents of Deir Ezzor, civil infrastructure needs, such as identification cards and birth certificates, and the desire for increased tribal role in the governance and security of the region.”
He concluded:
“The SDF, coalition forces, the U.S. State Department, and the local tribal leaders remain committed to improving the stability and security of the Deir Ezzor Province and are continuously striving to better the quality if living for residents in the area.”
This statement followed the continued efforts made by the coalition and the U.S administration in Deir Ezzor to contain the wave of civil anger, that was caused by a series of assassinations carried out by unknown assailants against tribal elders and sheikhs, the last of which was the killing of Sheikh (Muttshar al-Hifil), a sheikh of al-Akidat tribe.
