يقوم عناصر داعش باسترجاع محادثات برنامج الدردشة “واتس أب”، أثناء تفتيشهم أجهزة الهاتف المحمول العائدة للمدنيين الذين يتواجدون في صالات النت، بريف ديرالزور الشرقي، في محاولة منهم للتعرف على أي محادثة تم حذفها من قبل المستخدم، بغية الحصول على معلومات قد تدينه.
وتداهم داعش صالات النت بديرالزور بشكل مفاجئ وتقوم بتفتيش أجهزة الهواتف، بما في ذلك مقاطع الفيديو والمحادثات وحسابات وسائل الاتصال الاجتماعي، حيث دفع بعض ممن أجبروا على تفتيش هواتفهم، حياتهم ثمن دعابة أو صورة بروفايل أو إبداء رأي اتجاه ممارسات داعش على أحد وسائل الاتصال.
وقد قامت داعش في وقت سابق بإعدام طفل في بلدة الصور شمال ديرالزور، جراء وجود علم كردستان على بروفايل خاله على برنامج الواتس أب، فيما قامت باعتقال امرأة منذ شهرين مسنة بريف ديرالزور الغربي، جراء طلبها من ابنها القاطن في تركيا، عدم المجيء لديرالزور وهي تحت قبضة داعش، أثناء اتصالها معه من إحدى صالات النت، إلا أنها أفرجت عنها بعد ساعات.
