استشهد فجر اليوم الشاب عبد الرحمن صبحي الأسمر أبو عبيدة من أبناء بلدة خشام في ريف ديرالزور الشرقي أثناء المعارك الدائرة قرب مطار أبو ظهور العسكري في إدلب، يذكر أن أبا عبيدة كان أحد قادة تجمع كتائب عبد الله بن الزبير في مدينة دير الزور وقد خاض العديد من المعارك في المدينة في وقت سابق و بعد سيطرة داعش على معظم مناطق المحافظة.
رفض مبايعة التنظيم وانتقل إلى إدلب ليتابع مسيرته الثورية في قتال قوات نظام الأسد فكان ينتقل بين محافظتي حلب وإدلب مرابطاً على جبهات القتال، وبحسب ما أفاده ذوي الشهيد أن لعبد الرحمن أخاً كان قد استشهد في المعارك الدائرة بين كتائب الجيش الحر وقوات نظام الأسد في مدينة ديرالزور.
